During the pandemic, people have tried all sorts of things to help with anxiety. Love Dolls Shop
An Orlando woman picked up dollhouses and says refurbishing them is now her happy place.
The world of Tania Melendez is now filled with miniature homes. Her real home is now filled with close to a dozen dollhouses.
When work and life slowed down, Melendez started decorating her home until her husband told her to stop.
"My husband was like we cannot decorate another room. We cannot decorate another part of the house," Melendez said.
Instead, Melendez started buying and decorating the miniature houses and refurbishing them. Inside, she uses everything from pieces of cardboard to old bottle caps and the results are amazing.
Each room in her doll is detailed and modern and putting it all together gives Melendez a chance to relax.
"This helped me too. Instead of being stressed and overthinking and feeling overwhelmed, it helped me to challenge that energy and do something that was fun," Melendez said.
Through the Facebook "Mini" community, she even made new friends. Melendez sells her dollhouses and gives some away as gifts.
"So I am a "Mini' realtor," Melendez said.
Melendez proves once again joyful things can come in small packages.
